Peamount United battled back from a four goals to one deficit to claim a share of the spoils against Galway WFC in a thrilling game at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday evening.
For a second consecutive week, Don O’Riordan’s side conceded two goals in the final ten minutes as Peamount denied the hosts a place in the WNL Shield final.
After making several alterations to their side that lost to Peamount in Greenogue last Sunday, Galway got a dream start when Lisa Casserly latched onto a low pass from full-back Shauna Fox to open the scoring after just three minutes.
Despite taking an early lead, Galway’s advantage was short lived when two goal hero from the FAI Cup quarter-final Amber Barrett popped up to equalise less than two minutes later.
With little over quarter an hour played, Galway restored their lead when Keara Cormican finished home from a Lynsey McKey free-kick.
After turning provider for the Galway second goal, McKey would get herself on the score sheet next when her free-kick appeared to miss everybody before finding its way into the Peamount goal.
With eighteen minutes played in the second-half, the spectators in Eamonn Deacy Park were treated to two goals in two minutes, first Casserly added a fourth for the hosts before Sara McKevitt answered back instantly for Peamount.
Peamount continued to show their never-say-die attitude and with less than ten minutes remaining they pulled a third goal back when Clare Kinsella slotted home for the visitors - before substitute Danielle Murray completed their incredible comeback in the dying minutes of the game.
