Drogheda United 2 - 0 Bray Wanderers

by P.J. Murray (last updated 2009-11-11 00:23:01)

Drogheda United secured their Premier Division status with a hard fought win over a resilient Bray Wanderers tonight at United Park. The home side dominated over the ninety minutes, the final ten of which was against a ten man Bray, and if it weren’t for the efforts of Chris O’Connor in the Bray goal Drogheda may have four or even five ahead come the final whistle. But as it were goals by James Chambers and Brian King secured the win and Drogheda’s place in top flight Irish football.

Monaghan United 3 - 0 Wexford Youths

by Peter Hughes (last updated 2009-11-10 23:32:54)

Monaghan United easily won this battle for fifth place honours in the First Division, goals from Stephen McCrossan, Karl Bermingham and Paul Whelan accounting with some comfort for a Wexford Youths side for whom last night’s Kingspan Century Park appointment looked one game too many at the end of a busy season.

by Daire Walsh (last updated 2009-11-07 09:40:41)

Shelbourne will be looking to secure second-place in the League Of Ireland First Division for this season when they take on bottom-of-the-table Kildare County at Station Road, Newbridge on Saturday evening (kick-off 7.45pm). Following last week's results, Shelbourne cannot catch league leaders UCD, and will subsequently have to face Sporting Fingal in the play-offs, but they will nonetheless be looking to finish the league in good form after their somewhat bizarre 5-4 defeat to Longford Town last week
