by Finbarr O'Sullivan (last updated 2009-11-16 23:42:31)
Sporting Fingal secured promotion to the top flight in only their second season after defeating Bray Wanderers 4-2 on aggregate at the Carlisle Grounds last night.
Drogheda United 2 - 0 Bray Wanderers
by P.J. Murray (last updated 2009-11-11 00:23:01)
Drogheda United secured their Premier Division status with a hard fought win over a resilient Bray Wanderers tonight at United Park. The home side dominated over the ninety minutes, the final ten of which was against a ten man Bray, and if it weren’t for the efforts of Chris O’Connor in the Bray goal Drogheda may have four or even five ahead come the final whistle. But as it were goals by James Chambers and Brian King secured the win and Drogheda’s place in top flight Irish football.
Monaghan United 3 - 0 Wexford Youths
by Peter Hughes (last updated 2009-11-10 23:32:54)
Monaghan United easily won this battle for fifth place honours in the First Division, goals from Stephen McCrossan, Karl Bermingham and Paul Whelan accounting with some comfort for a Wexford Youths side for whom last night’s Kingspan Century Park appointment looked one game too many at the end of a busy season.
Drogheda United -v- Bray Wanderers
by Alan Smith (last updated 2009-11-10 12:35:10)
With the demotion of Derry City on Saturday, Bray Wanderers get a final chance to fight for their survival away to Drogheda United tonight.
Shelbourne -v- Sporting Fingal
by Jody Moylan (last updated 2009-11-10 00:15:50)
In what might be called a Cup semi-final given the nature of the League of Ireland promotion play-offs, both Shelbourne and Sporting Fingal will face off in this knock-out clash in what is the most important tie for both teams this season
Finn Harps 0 - 2 Monaghan United
by Alan Foley (last updated 2009-11-08 15:11:18)
There was more talk about the demise of Derry City than the plights of Finn Harps or Monaghan at sparsely populated Finn Park tonight.
Kildare County 1 - 5 Shelbourne
by Daire Walsh (last updated 2009-11-08 15:07:34)
Kildare County's seven-year stay in the League Of Ireland came to a very abrupt end last Saturday evening when they were the victims of a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Shelbourne at Station Road, Newbridge.

A dead rubber may have taken place at the Belfield Bowl last night, but neither side showed evidence of this in what was a hugely entertaining game

UCD will lift the First Division on Saturday night as they host Waterford United in The UCD Bowl in the final game of the First Division season. (Kick off 7.45)
by Daire Walsh (last updated 2009-11-07 09:40:41)
Shelbourne will be looking to secure second-place in the League Of Ireland First Division for this season when they take on bottom-of-the-table Kildare County at Station Road, Newbridge on Saturday evening (kick-off 7.45pm). Following last week's results, Shelbourne cannot catch league leaders UCD, and will subsequently have to face Sporting Fingal in the play-offs, but they will nonetheless be looking to finish the league in good form after their somewhat bizarre 5-4 defeat to Longford Town last week
