Quinn: There’s more to come from us

Peamount United captain Louise Quinn has praised her team-mates for their start to the Women’s National League but insists there is still plenty of room for improvement.

The Peas have picked up maximum points and scored a remarkable 13 goals from their first two games to emerge as early favourites for the inaugural title but the Ireland midfielder claims they mustn’t rest on their laurels.

“We’ve had two great performances and hopefully we can get better,” said Quinn.

“There is certainly room to improve. Last Sunday, although we scored seven, we had more chances which we maybe should have finished off.

“We went two goals ahead early on and then Wexford had a player sent off so that might have made our task a little easier. We still have another gear in us though.”

With the Women's National League in its very first season, Quinn reveals that they are still coming to terms with the new competition.

“There are longer journeys for us every second weekend but we’ll get used to it.

“We all have to play every team three times so the sides will become more familiar and learn how best to beat each other as the season goes on,” she added.

With regard to Sunday’s game, she knows what to expect from their old rivals Raheny, who also have two wins from two.

“We’ve played Raheny plenty of times in the past and would be aware of a lot of their players,” she said.

“They’re quite young and pretty technical so we will hope to close down some of their key players while focussing on playing our own game.

“We know this is going to the toughest one so far. They are a really good side.”
