Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gabon international, has departed Chelsea and signed a deal with Marseille in France's Ligue 1.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea from Barcelona only last summer, featuring in 21 games for the Blues across all competitions.

In his brief stint at Chelsea, Aubameyang netted three goals, all of which were scored within ten days in October, during matches against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and consecutive Champions League group stage games against AC Milan.

This move marks Aubameyang's second departure from the Premier League in the span of 18 months.

He was previously a part of Arsenal for four years starting in 2018 before his move to Barcelona in January 2022.

The 34-year-old began his senior club career at AC Milan before making moves to Saint-Étienne, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, and Barcelona.

Aubameyang is Gabon's all-time top goalscorer and was named African Footballer of the Year in 2016.

Meanwhile at Chelsea there has been significant change under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

This summer transfer window, however, has been more about departures than arrivals at Chelsea. The squad has seen several key players move on to other clubs:

Mateo Kovacic is now part of Manchester City.

Kai Havertz has transferred to Arsenal.

Mason Mount has shifted his allegiance to Manchester United.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and defender Kalidou Koulibaly have both moved to Al-Ahli in Saudi Pro League.

N'Golo Kante has also found a new home in Saudi Arabia, joining Al-Ittihad.

Both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic have chosen AC Milan as their next destination.

Former captain Cesar Azpilicueta has joined Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

On the other hand, the club has been comparatively quiet in terms of signings, adding just three new faces:

Angelo Gabriel, an exciting young talent from Santos.

Christopher Nkunku, a formidable forward from RB Leipzig.

Nicolas Jackson, a promising striker from Villarreal.
