AS Roma has confirmed the signing of Saki Kumagai. The contract keeps Kumagai with the club until 30 June 2025.

Kumagai was ranked among the 100 best female footballers in 2022 by The Guardian.

Her decorated career includes five Champions League wins with Olympique Lyonnais, a World Cup victory with Japan in 2011, and a league title with Bayern Munich in Germany over the last two seasons.

Speaking about her move to Roma, Kumagai expressed her excitement.

"I’m thrilled to join Roma and can’t wait to play for this club,” she stated.

She further shared her gratitude towards the club for placing faith in her, promising to give her all in meeting the team's expectations and making history with the club.

Kumagai is set to captain Japan in the forthcoming World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, marking her fourth tournament.

Her history with the World Cup includes lifting the trophy in 2011 and reaching the final in 2015. She also holds an Olympic silver from 2012.

The Head of Women’s Football at Roma, Betty Bavagnoli, extended a warm welcome to Kumagai.
