Gabriel Sava - Drogheda United
About Gabriel Sava
Born in Rome, Gabriel began his career in Italy and was once on the books at Lazio. By 2008 he was playing for Drogheda Town and was in goals when they met Bohemians in the third round of the FAI Cup. Bohs ran out 3-0 winners on the day but Bray Wanderers signed him up for the remainder of the 2008 season.
In 2009 Gabriel moved to Drogheda United and in 2010 he made his way to Monaghan United where he made the goalkeeper's jersey his own under manager Mick Cooke, making 61 league appearances over the next two seasons. In 2010 Gabriel kept goal in the League Cup final, a game Monaghan lost 1-0 to Sligo Rovers and in 2011 he helped the Mons to promotion from the First Division.
In December 2011 Gabriel left Monaghan to follow his ex boss, Mick Cooke, to Drogheda United where he was immediately installed as first choice 'keeper. He made his debut on the opening night of the 2012 season and made 29 league appearances as Drogheda finished second to champions Sligo Rovers. Gabriel also picked up a League Cup winners medal as Drogheda overcame Shamrock Rovers in the final.
