About Mike Harty

Galway born Mike 'Mixie' Harty joined Galway United from local side Galway Hibs in 2001/02. A versatile player, Mixie played at centre of midfield, right side of midfield and at right full during his six seasons at Galway and made 128 league appearances for the club.

Harty was released by Galway United Manager Tony Cousins in December 2006, having spent his entire League career up to that point with the Tribesmen. One month later, in January 2007, he was signed for Athlone Town by manager Michael O'Connor.

Mixie spent one season with Athlone and made 18 league appearances for the club before dropping out of league football in 2008. However, he returned to the fray in 2009, playing in the club's debut League of Ireland season under manager Johnny Glynn.

In February 2012 Mixie was brought back into league football when new SD Galway boss Tony Mannion persuaded him to join up for the club's First Division campaign.
