Mikey developed at Salthill Devon and became one of their top strikers, helping the club to the A Championship final in 2009. Having won promotion to the league for 2010, Mikey made 17 league appearances for Salthill, scoring three goals.
In April 2011 Mikey signed for Sean Connor at Galway United and made 25 league appearances that season, scoring twice.
