Jonathan’s Biography

Jonathan is the only player to have played over 400 games in the blue of Harps and had had three separate spells with the club. His two spells away from the club saw him spend one season at Shelbourne where he picked up a League Championship medal in the 2001/2002 season, while in 2009 he dropped out of senior football to play for Ulster Senior League side Kildrum Tigers.

Son of the former Athlone, St Patricks Athletic and Finn Harps player John Minnock, he first arrived at Harps in January 1994 after signing from Convoy Arsenal, playing in the club’s youth and reserve sides before making the break through into the first team in August 1995. He picked up a First Division winners medal in 2004, three First Division runners-up medals, an FAI Cup runners-up medal and an Irish News Cup winners medal in his time at the club. He also won representative honours for the League sides.

Traditionally a left-back, Minnock moved into the centre of the Harps defence during 2007 but missed a lot of the 2008 season through injury. After looking like he would retire from the senior game at the end of the 2008 season, he spent 2009 at Kildrum Tigers before being persuaded by James Gallagher to come back to Finn Harps in February 2010.

At the end of 2010 Jonathan signed for Letterkenny Rovers.
