Michael’s Biography
Michael Devine is a goalkeeper who is renowned as one of the legends in League of Ireland football.
Michael started out at Cobh side Springfield FC before making the move to England where he spent four years with Middlesbrough. He left St James' Park and spent a brief period at Newcastle United before returning to Ireland where he initially joined Cobh Wanderers and then moved on to Cobh Ramblers.
His debut for Cobh came in a League Cup tie against Cork City in August 1993. Michael spent five years at St Coleman's Park and signed for Waterford United in 1998. Hos form during the following two seasons with the Blues earned him a contract at Cork City where he signed for manager Derek Mountfield.
Michael played for Cork City for eight years, winning a league title in 2005 and an FAI Cup winner's medal in 2007. While at Turner's Cross he set a club record of 105 consecutive games and became his final honour was a Setanta Cup winner's medal in 2008.
January 2009 saw Mick return to the RSC for another season with Waterford United but the following year he returned for a second spell at Cork City, signing for the club on 11 March 2010. This last spell of League football didn't last long and Michael left Cork in July of that year. He went on to play Munster Senior League football with Cork side Fermoy FC.
Michael then played with Cobh Wanderers in their FAI Cup game against Sligo Rovers in August 2015.
