Danny Furlong

Danny is a striker who began his League of Ireland career at Wexford Youths in 2008. He made his league debut as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Shelbourne on 4 April 2008 and scored his first goal in the 93rd minute of a 2-0 win over Athlone Town two weeks later. He immediately became a regular goal-scorer and bagged six league goals in his debut season,.

The following year, 2009, saw Danny make just 2 league appearances but he made up for lost time in 2010 netting eight league goals in 32 league appearances and in 2011 he banged in ten league goals. Another thirteen league strikes in 2012 further enhanced Danny's growing reputation and he left Wexford at the end of that year to join Premier Division Cork City under Tommy Dunne.

Danny signed for Cork City on 18 November 2012 and scored on his league debut against Bohemians on 15 March 2013. But he never settled at Turner's Cross and that was his only league goal for the Rebels, although he did score three more in Cup competition. After just 12 league appearances for the Leesiders he went on loan to Waterford United for the remainder of the 2013 season where he made just 5 league appearances. He left Cork City by mutual consent at the end of the season and re-signed for Wexford Youths in January 2014.

Back on home soil, Danny flourished once again, playing in all 28 of Wexford's 2014 First Division games and scoring 18 league goals, as well as two more in the Cups. But his exploits in 2015 would astonish everyone. He broke Andy Myler's record of most goals scored in a League of Ireland First Division season (twenty-seven), by netting thirty league goals in 28 appearances as Wexford won the league title and were promoted to the Premier Division.

The 2016 Premier Division campaign would be less spectacular with Danny getting six goals from 25 league appearances. Wexford were relegated at the end of that season and Danny left Ireland to live in Australia where he played with Southern United.

In February 2018, Danny moved back home to Ireland where he linked up once again with Shane Keegan, this time at Galway United. After just one season with the Tribesmen, Danny returned to Wexford where he signed for Brian O'Sullivan in 2019. The reunion didn'y last long and Danny started playing with local side Rosslare Cletic in the Autumn of that year and two years later he joined Noeth End United.

In January 2023 Danny returned to Wexford for a fourth spel, thisl under new manager James Keddy.
