Shaun’s Biography

Shaun played underage football for Stella Maris before signing for Bohemians in 1996. He made his first team debut in the UEFA Cup away to Dinamo Minsk in July 1996 and, having established himself as a first team regular, he was enticed away to Kevin Keegan's Fulham in December 1997.

He struggled to gain a regular first team spot at Craven Cottage and returned to Ireland to re-sign for Bohemians in September 1998. Shaun spent three more seasons at Dalymount Park, winning the League and Cup 'Double' under manager Roddy Collins. He also scored the equalising goal against Aberdeen in a 2-1 win in the UEFA Cup that season.

After playing and scoring in the Champions League qualifiers in the summer of 2001, Shaun moved to A.F.C. Bournemouth in mid August, where he played until 2007. In December 2007, Maher returned home once again, this time signing for Drogheda United where he scored once in 15 league appearances for the club.

At the start of the 2009 season Shaun signed for Sporting Fingal where he won promotion to the Premier Division along with an FAI Cup winners medal. He also played through 2010 for Liam Buckley's men but, when the club folded shortly before the start of the 2011 season, he moved north on trial with Dundalk before signing for Sean Connor at Galway United just days before the season kicked off.

Shaun made 13 appearances for Galway before leaving in July 2011 to join up with Limerick FC in the First Division. In the latter half of the season he made just 1 league appearance for Pat Scully's side, against Athlone Town on 16 July.

In February 2012 Shaun joined his former Bohemians boss, Roddy Collins at Monaghan United, signing as a player/coach for the club's Premier Division campaign. But five months later, on 18 June, Monaghan withdrew from the league citing financial pressures.
