James’s Biography

James is a Republic of Ireland U21 international who played Gaelic football for Magheracloone Mitchells at juvenile level before beginning his soccer career with Carrick Rovers as a twelve-year-old. He went on to play for Monaghan United's Youth sides and spent one season with Belvedere where he came to the attention of English-based scouts from both Manchester City and Huddersfield Town.

James decided to choose The Terriers over City and arrived at the Huddersfield academy in 2003, where he progressed well and impressed enough to earn a one-year contract with the senior team in the summer of 2006. He made his Town debut, and only appearance in English League football, against Oldham Athletic on 7 April 2007 when he came on as a half-time substitute.

Having been released by Huddersfield on 9 May 2007 due to budget restraints, James returned home to join John Gill at Dundalk in the 2007 July transfer window. He made 8 league appearances for Dundalk before signing for Monaghan United in 2008 where he made 21 league appearances that season.

In 2011 he joined Newry City in the Irish league.
