Carl’s Biography

Carl started off at Home Farm before signing for Portsmouth in July 2009. He spent three years at Fratton Park but was released by Portsmouth in July 2012 when he joined non-league side Bognor Regis.

In July 2013 Carl returned to Ireland and signed for Johnny McDonnell at Shelbourne. He made his Shels debut away to Sligo Rovers on 27 September 2013 and made 2 league appearances that year, but Shelbourne were relegated at the end of the season and a month later Carl signed for new Drogheda United manager Robbie Horgan.

Carl played a big part in Drogheda United's 2014 season, appearing in 31 league games for the club and scoring two goals, as they finished ninth in the Premier Division table. In the 2015 Premier Division he made a further 16 league appearances before leaving United Park in July of 2015 to re-join Shelbourne in the First Division.

Back at Tolka Park, Carl scored twice in seven league appearances for the Reds as they finished fourth in the 2015 First Division table. The following year he scored four times in 21 league appearances as Shelbourne finished sixth in the 2016 First Division. Carl left the Reds at the end of the 2016 season.
