About Mark Hughes

Mark played underage football with Belvedere and was a member of Bray Wanderers' U19 side in 2011/12. He played with Scunthorpe United during their summer tour of Ireland in 2012 and was signed by manager Alan Knill in August 2012. His only taste of first team football with the Iron came in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy match against Notts County on 4 September 2012 and he was released by new manager Brian Laws in January 2013.

In January 2013 Mark joined up with Roddy Collins at Athlone Town. He went on to play 26 times, scoring twice, in the league as Athlone won the First Division title. He was also nominated in the First Division Team of the Year. He re-signed for Athlone for the 2014 season.

Mark went on to play twenty-six times for Athlone in the Premier Division, as they were relegated at the end of the season. In December 2014, Mark moved to Drogheda United under Johnny McDonnell.
