Michael ’s Biography

Michael is a Tipperary native and former St Kevin’s schoolboys player who signed a pro contract for Colchester United in the summer of 2010, after two years with their youth and reserve sides. But on 13 December 2010 he signed for Waterford United on a one-season deal, making his debut in a 0-0 draw with Athlone Town on the opening night of the 2011 season. He made just 5 league appearances for the Blues, 4 as a substitute, before parting company with the club on 27th May 2011.

In February 2012 Michael signed for Sean McCaffrey at Dundalk and in a difficult season for the Lilywhites he scored five league goals in 25 league appearances. At the end of the season he moved north, signing on for 2013 with Declan Devine at Derry City. He made his debut for the Candystripes against Drogheda United in a Setanta Cup game on 4 March 2013 and scored twelve times in 26 league appearances that season. In November 2013 Michael signed for John Caulfield at Cork City but long-term injury meant that he did not appear for the Leesiders during the 2014 season.

Michael had long lay-off with injury and it wasn't until February 2016 that he returned to the League of Ireland, signing for Premier Division side Finn Harps after being on trial. However, he left the club without making a league appearance in July 2016.

Michael has represented Ireland at U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels.
