Sligo Rovers have announced that midfielder Romauld Boco has left the club and will join Accrington Stanley pending international clearance.

Benin international Boco hooks up with his former boss Paul Cook at the English League 2 side following the activation of a release clause in his contract.

The departure marks the end of Boco's third spell at the Showgrounds, having re-joined the club from Shanghai East Asia in December 2011.

Speaking to sligorovers.ie, Rovers chairman Dermot Kelly said: “Rommy has been an outstanding player and model professional with the club.

“He had an ambition to rejoin English league football and it was something he wanted to take on again.

“It was a difficult situation for all parties but we want to thank him, Paul Cook and Accrington for the manner in which it was handled. We wish them all success in the future.”
