Zayed scoops Player of the Year award

Extratime.ie columnist and Derry City striker Eamon Zayed took the top award tonight at the PFAI Awards, with the Libyan international named Premier Division player of the year by his fellow professionals. 

 

Zayed scored 22 goals this season, helping Derry City to a third-placed finish in their first season back in the top flight. Another high-scorer picked up an award tonight, as Graham Cummins was named First Division player of the year. Cummins scored 24 goals on the way to City winning the division. 

 

Aston Villa-bound Enda Stevens of Shamrock Rovers was named young player of the year, while his future Villa teammate Richard Dunne picked up the International Player of the Year award. 

 

Dublin and District Schoolboys League honorary secretary Fran Ray was presented with a PFAI merit award and the referee of the year award went to Neil Doyle.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Enda Stevens (Shamrock Rovers)

 

FIRST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Graham Cummins (Cork City)

 

IRISH OVERSEAS PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Richard Dunne (Aston Villa)

 

REFEREE OF THE YEAR: Neil Doyle

 

PFAI MERIT AWARD: Fran Ray
