Game Matchtracker

Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
92' - Full Time - And that's the game! 2-1. Bohs finish up with a goal of a lead to take on their travels for the second leg. Portadown will be disappointed, as they were just about the better team in the first half in this updater's opinion. Goodnight from me guys, it has been a pleasure, but I'm bloody freezing.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
90' - Only two minutes of stoppage time for the visitors to reach parity.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
89' - Portadown are playing four up front now, in a tactic that the Italians call, "lumping it".
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
87' - Final five, Portadown pushing the button but not really looking all that threatening, and they can't subdue the odd Bohs attack. We've just heard that Karl Moore has been named man of the match here. That's just for the goal; nobody has really stood out that tall.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
82' - The Gypsies are going forward and the home support want a third. They have to be careful though, as if they push on you would fancy Portadown could trouble them on the break. *puts another quid in the cliché jar*
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
80' - ... That comes to naught and we're into the final stretch. Can Portadown get back in this tie, or is a one goal deficit decent change to bring back for the second leg?
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
79' - Oh. Braniff stings the hands of Sexton with a free kick from 23.9 yards. It is quite close to him though and we're left with a Portadown corner.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
78' - Substitution - We've not got long left here, and Bohs have made their final substitution: Keith Ward off for Stephen Traynor.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
71' - Substitution - Correy Davidson and Dwayne Wilson come on for Danny Joyce and Karl Moore.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
67' - Braniff with another chance, the ball falling to him in the box as Bohs fail to clear a cross. He turns but has his shot blocked at the edge of the six yard box.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
63' - This is all go, hope we get a minute's rest.. Many complaining about the pitch on Twitter. It is a bit torn up but, to be fair, both teams are doing alright at getting it down and passing it. *puts a quid in the cliché jar*
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
60' - Goal - Goodness gracious. My cold fingers can't keep up! Kevin Braniff gets his head to a cross from the right and we're at 2-1. Game on.
Bohemians 2 - 0 Portadown
59' - That goal came just after Keith Ward tried a thrity yard lob that Miskelly was able to run back for. Moore cut inside and hit it from 22.5 yards, an absolute screamer into the top corner.
Bohemians 2 - 0 Portadown
58' - Goal - It all happens so fast! Karl Moore scores!
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
55' - Danny Joyce with a yard of room in the box fires a shot at Miskelly who is forced to push it wide. Good effort but quite a decent chance. He should have done better from eight yards.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
54' - Substitution - McCloskey in for Tipton.
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
54' - Yellow Card - Late tackle by Clarke on Ward draws a yellow.
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
47' - There have been no changes in personnel at the break. Portadown are still wearing red, the Gypsies are still wearing yellow, and I'm still turning a kind of blue.
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
46' - Second Half - Bohs and Portadown are out again and the latter kicks us off while I continue to shiver.
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
45' - Any thoughts people? Send them my way if you like, @cathalwogan on the tweet machine. Even if you just want to wish me a happy Valentine's Day, I'd be happy enough with that.
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
45' - Half Time - And that's the half, 1-0 to a Bohs team who only really woke up at the end of the first period.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
45' - Dinny Corcoran with a lovely side foot lob on the half-volley to score that. And McMahon almost in too there. He is slipped in down the channel between the left back and centre half only to put too much on the shot and see it fly over. 1-0, but Bohs could have quickly made it a two goal lead.
Bohemians 1 - 0 Portadown
44' - Goal - But there we are, against the run of play you'd say, just about. Dinny Corcoran scores
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
39' - That's better from Bohs. Roberto Lopes works some space for himself 22.5 yards out and has a pop. It goes a few feet wide but it isn't a bad effort. That zone between 20 and 25 yards is very tricky. I've split the difference there. Portadown probably just about the better team at the moment though.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
37' - Things getting a little better for the neutral, but more worrying for Bohs. Portadown's Matthew Tipton feels confident enough to try a bicycle kick from a stray high ball and gets a clatter for his troubles.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
36' - Redman gets high again (see what I did there?), all the way to the endline, and pulls back a cross to the far post which has to be cleared behind for an eventually useless corner.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
29' - Both teams have failed in the final third, completely. Both can get it to a position to cross the ball, but then everything goes to pieces. Until now... A decent chance for Portadown. Ross Redman wanders through a few tame tackles way up the pitch and into the box. He tries to fire it across Sexton but the 'keeper palms it away at what people always say is a "good height" for a save.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
27' - Here's one. The platitude of "oooooh, great cross", is constantly uttered with the sad sigh, "pity there was nobody there for it". If there is nobody in the box, the cross shouldn't be hit, right? The good ball is merely a pass struck in a pleasing way, into a potentially good area, but which is actually a total waste and merely shows that either a) the crosser is pre-programmed to simply cross the ball, b) the crosser is not intelligent enough to get his head up, and/or c) the tactical organisation of the attacking team is failing. There are more things it shows, I'll think about them later. Still 0-0, Karl Moore forcing me to think about crosses.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
22' - The men in mustard continue to match the ketchup kings in this tightly contested affair. Karl Moore swings in another good ball but with barely a head to aim for in the Portadown area. He has been the home team's most lively player so far.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
20' - Portadown are comfortable passing it around at the back. However, if one of these passes falls victim to a bobble, a chasing Dinny Corcoran could get a sniff of goal. After twenty minutes in Peamount yesterday it was already 4-0 but, to be honest, I'm glad for the break.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
16' - The ball is bobbling a bit on that bumpy, sandy surface. Craig Sexton in the Bohs goal also had a bit of a bobble, falling over a few minutes ago. Nothing really happened but I had a good laugh at his expense. Portadown have had a few corners but no effort on goal as of yet. Another one coming now...
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
12' - Matthew Tipton, you might also remember, played for a brief period with Dundalk, as did Gary Breen. Brian Gartland also played in the League of Ireland, way back in 2007 for Monaghan United. Bet some of you didn't know all of that. I didn't (thanks to Simon O'Gorman for the knowledge).
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
10' - Still without a score, though both teams look very competent at kicking the ball to one another. It is a tentative start with nothing of major concern to either goalkeeper. They're probably freezing, the poor sods.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
6' - Ah, nearly a chance. A very smart diagonal ball in from the right draws a heaving gasp from the Bohs fans, but it is seen safely wide by Miskelly. Bohs are having the better of the opening exchanges, moving the ball quickly.
Bohemians 2 - 1 Portadown
4' - Karl Moore and Owen Heary are already combining well down the right side for Bohs. They've won a corner and a free kick which should have produced dangerous deliveries but were, unfortunately for them, absolutely rubbish and barely even worth remarking on. Much better Bohs noise and presence in the main stand here now as they will their team into the game.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
1' - Kick-off - After a minute of silence Bohemians kick us off in their gorgeous yellow kit, playing against Portadown's usual red number. It's like mustard versus ketchup here.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - This just in! Bohs will wear canary yellow tonight in their first competitive game under Aaron Callaghan. That's a bit exciting, isn't it? A bit exotic? Wearing yellow in Phibsboro? I'm not sure if I would.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - 7:10pm. We will soon have a game. Still not a great crowd in Dayler. Where are you all?
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - Squads being read out now here, no late changes enforced thankfully. I can go back to searching the web for hints as to who these Portadown lads are. People with a bit of knowledge of English soccer will know Matthew Tipton who is playing up front for them. Younger fans may know him from Football Manager or Wikipedia, or however they learn about players these days. Google Tarzan O'Brien afterwards. He was great. I might do a little doodle of Tarzan before the game, five minutes to kick off here.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - It is still very cold. it's the middle of February. That's supposed to be springtime. It is not springtime in Dalymount Park. In more relevant news, the pitch isn't in great condition. There is quite a bit of sand scattered across the turf. Knowing Aaron Callaghan (former UCD coach), I would think he'd like his team to play some good passing ball, but I don't think this kind of surface will suit them.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - You can tell me all about what you think of the starting teams, how the game will go, or what your weekend was like, all on Twitter. I'm @cathalwogan. The username wasn't in demand for some reason.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - We have the starting teams up for you to ponder there. Bohs look to be playing five in midfield, or three with tow very high wide men, whichever way you want to look at that. It might also be worth knowing that Portadown only got off the bus after 6pm. They will start slowly one would think.
Bohemians 0 - 0 Portadown
0' - Hello! You here with me, Cathal Wogan, at Dalymount Park! Well, you're not, are you? If you are here and are reading this then you must be very bored. Between Bray and Glentoran on Saturday, and Peamount and Castlebar Celtic yesterday, I've seen 19 goals in two games over the past two days. More goals please, but not 19, because that hurt my mind and I would guess it hurt Castlebar Celtic quite badly too.
