Late late late drama here in Drogheda, but Pats secure all three points right at the death.
Penalty to St Pats!
Ryan Brennan is booked for Drogheda United.
Some nervy moments in the Pats box as Brendan Clarke watches a high ball come down on top of him and he spills it and Peter Hynes hooks a shot over his shoulder which appeared to come off Price's hand but the ref doesnt give it.
It has been coming, Pats moved the ball well but when they get into the Drogheda box they were swarmed by players but a shot deflected out to Ger O'Brien who was free on the right and he played an angled ball toward the back post for Fagan to come racing in and smash home from close range.
It's livened up here a lot since that penalty miss.
Gavin Brennan from the right wing plays a ball into the box which Killian Brennan tries to control but it bounces up and hits his hand and Tom Connolly points to the spot. Declan O'Brien stepped up and put his spot kick wide of the left hand post.
Penalty to Drogheda.
It's very scrappy here as Sava mis-judges the bounce of a ball and Gavin Brennan at the back post clears on the line. Drogheda have the majority of posession but Pats are creating the better chances.
No surprise, but the referee is having a nightmare and inconsistency has gone out the window, but it's generating a hostile atmosphere. Drogheda have just had a penalty shout but neither the linesman nor the ref make any gesture either way.
Declan O'Brin is playing a high line for the hosts and he's been caught narrowly offside. Pats haven't settled just yet while Drogheda are coming more into this.
Drogheda start the second half with a bit more intensity and are already creating more up front.
And we are back underway in Drogheda.
No injury time here and Tom Connolly blows right on 45 minutes. Pats have dominated the first half and how they haven't scored is beyond me, this could really come back to haunt them.
Chris Forrester has time to control the ball in the box but fires over from close range, from the corner a scramble see's Anto Flood head just over from about 4 yards out, many of the Pats fans thought it was in.
Sava once again comes outside his box and stands waiting for a high ball to drop before mis-kicking a clearance and only for the presence of Alan Byrne Drogheda would have been in real trouble.
Pats with the first real dangerous chance of the game as Derek Prendergast conceded a needless free and John Russell swirled the ball into the box for Kenny Browne to rise highest and head toward goal but with Sava scrambling David Cassidy was back on the line to clear.
Neither side has created a real clear cut chance, Chris Forrester is the real dangerman here for the visitors but both defences are holding firm and it's a real midfield war here.
Gabriel Sava has his blushes saved by Alan Byrne as the keeper mis-kicks from a back pass and see's the ball swerve back toward goal with Forrester lurking Alan Byrne gets across to head the ball out for a throw.
Conan Byrne again seems off balance as John Russell finds him with a cross but he skews his shot high and wide.
Conan Byrne was the recipient of a ball over the top but he was just put off balanace and his shot was a meek effort into the arms of Sava. Pats are turning the screw her, but it's their final ball which is really letting them down.
First corner of the game to St Pats as Derek Prendergast smacks the ball up and over his own crossbar.
Gabriel Sava has a nervy moment when he hooks a clearance right into the chest of Anto Flood and he plays in Chris Forrester who gets to the byline before putting a ball across goal but Alan Byrne was back to defend and clear.
Pats are playing a lot of long balls while Drogheda are keeping to a more passing game, but both sides are composed and going about their business, Pats are probably dominating the posession stats at the moment.
There are a few Drogheda players with a chance to secure a starting place for the Setanta Cup final on Saturday, Michael Daly and Stephen Quigley in particular.
It's been a bit niggly as Pats have had four free-kicks already, with Killian Brennan on the pitch Drogheda will not want to concede many setpieces.
Early chance for Pats as Stephen Quigley plays a back pass to Sava while under pressure from Chris Forrester and Anto Flood leaps in to try and dink the ball past the committed keeper, but Sava gets a hand on the ball and saves.
First chance for Drogheda as Killian Brennan is robbed by his younger brother Ryan and the Drogheda midfielder works the ball to Declan O'Brien who plays a ball across the face of goal but Gavin Brennan, coming in at the back post, fails to make a connection.
Drogheda get us underway here.
