Leinster FA clinch FAI Inter-Provincial Youth crown

LEINSTER clinched the FAI Inter-Provincial Youths tournament title in a dramatic head to head with Munster after both sides finished level on points and goal difference on the final day of the three-day tournament.

Defending champions Munster went into the final day at the AUL Complex looking to complete a remarkable turnaround after they had lost 4-0 to the hosts on Saturday. Munster needed to beat Connacht by a large score and hope that Leinster would lose their last game against Ulster.

Munster did their part of the bargain when they ran out 7-1 winners over Connacht thanks to a hat-trick from tournament top scorer Jason Hogan, a double from Nathan Browne and a Colm O'Driscoll goal with their seventh coming via a Matthew Barrett own goal. Bradley Fowley scored for the westerners.

It seemed as if the Munster work would be in vain as Leinster FA went ahead against Ulster through Lee Jordan but remarkably the hosts conceded two late goals to go down to a 2-1 loss when Michael Devine and Finn McLoughlin scoring for Ulster.

It turned out that Leinster and Munster each finished up on six points but the LFA claimed the title as a result of their win over MFA on Saturday.
