Cork City to face AS Roma in next round of UEFA Youth League

Cork City under-19s will face the mighty AS Roma in the Second Round of the UEFA Youth League Champions Route after defeating HJK Helsinki 1-0 on aggregate.

The Leesiders took a scoreless draw back to Turners Cross following the first leg in the Finnish capital on September 28th.

Aaron Drinan scored the only goal of the game, a penalty, three minutes into the second half and that proved to be the difference between the sides as Stephen Bermingham's side held on for a famous victory.

They will now face the Italian youth league champions Roma, with the first leg to take place in the Italian capital on November 2 and the return leg at Turners Cross on November 23.

It's the first time an Irish side has been represented in the newly expanded competition, which comprises the youth sides of all 32 clubs that qualify for the senior competition and 32 teams that won their respective youth leagues.

City were crowned champions in 2015 for the fourth time in five seasons, beating Limerick in the final, though they're already out of contention for 2016 having fallen to Finn Harps in the quarter finals.
