Mohan names Ireland U19 squad for Austria tests

Republic of Ireland U19 Head Coach Tom Mohan has announced his squad for two friendly international games against Austria at Tallaght Stadium next month.

The sides meet on Sunday, September 4 (7.00pm), and at the same venue on Tuesday, September 6 (1.00pm).

"This is another opportunity to get the players in and work with them to prepare for the qualifying phase in October," said Mohan.

"Since the end of last season we've had up to 60 players in for assessment including home-based squads and a UK-based players training camp so we've seen a lot of players.

"The players at this age group qualified for the UEFA U17 Championships Finals in Bulgaria last year and there's good belief in this group. A lot of them have gained a lot of experience having played international since U!5s and were picked at U19 last season.

"They know the quality of players that they are up against. Austria also qualified for the UEFA U17 Finals last year and will be very strong opposition."

Ronan Hale is out with an ankle injury. The Birmingham City striker scored two goals against Germany and one against Hungary at U18 level last season.

Mohan will not be calling a number of players who are involved in first team football with SSE Airtricity League clubs next week.
