Dundalk confirm departure of Brian Gartland

Premier Division strugglers Dundalk have parted ways with Brian Gartland as the club's Head of Football Operations.

Gartland, who has spent the last 13 years at Oriel Park as a player and behind the scenes, has left with immediate effect.

The Dubliner made over 250 appearances for the Lilywhites after joining from Portadown ahead of the start of the 2013 season.

And while at Oriel, he won 16 major honours and five Premier Division titles.

Recently, Gartland juggled his role as Head of Football Operations with being first-team coach at the club under current boss Noel King.

He also took charge of the Dundalk first-team on an interim basis with Liam Burns following Stephen O'Donnell's exit last month.

“Brian will always be a legendary figure at Oriel Park and the decision to part ways wasn’t easy,” said Dundalk owner Brian Ainscough.

“I would like to thank him for his commitment and dedication to the club over the past 11 years and we wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
